Study of Spin - Reorientation in Tm 2 Fe 17 x Ga x and Sm 2 Fe 17 x Ga x

چکیده
In order to compare their anisotropy behavior, Tm2Fe17 Ga and Sm2Fe17 Ga (0 8) powders were magnetically aligned using either static-field or dynamic-field methods. Magnetization measurements were carried out along both the easy and hard magnetic directions for temperatures 10 350 K and fields up to 50 kOe. Spin-reorientation behavior was observed in all of the Tm2Fe17 Ga samples studied; the nature of the anisotropy depends on both the Ga content and temperature. In Tm2Fe17 Ga for = 0, 1, 3, and 5, the anisotropy changes from uniaxial to easy-plane with increasing temperature; while for = 7 and 8, the anisotropy changes from easy-plane to uniaxial. In contrast, none of the Sm2Fe17 Ga samples studied show spin-reorientation behavior. For Sm2Fe17 Ga with = 0, 6, 7, and 8, the anisotropy is easy-plane, while with = 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, the anisotropy is uniaxial; the nature of the anisotropy does not change with temperature over the range of measurement. The results are discussed in terms of the effect of Ga substitution on the Tm-sublattice and Sm-sublattice anisotropies.

The magnetic anisotropy phase diagrams of Pr2Co17-,Fen and Pr2Co17-,Fez-,Ty (T=Mn, Zr, Ti, Hf) compounds have been determined. Two spin reorientation temperatures, TSr1 and Tsr2, have been observed. Near the Ts,l or Ts,2 boundary the anisotropy is conical; between the two spin reorientation temperatures they exhibit uniaxial anisotropy and beyond these limits they are planar. The compounds RE4FeGa(12-x)Ge(x) (RE = Sm, Tb) were discovered in reactions employing molten Ga as a solvent at 850 degrees C. However, the isostructural Y4FeGa(12-x)Ge(x) was prepared from a direct combination reaction. The crystal structure is cubic with space group Imm, Z = 2, and a = 8.657(4) A and 8.5620(9) A for the Sm and Tb analogues, respectively. Structure refinement based on full-mat...

Creating a permanent magnet with a higher energy product than existing materials is attractive in order to optimize magnetic performance. The eutectic microstructure of Sm-Co alloys is attractive for magnets since primary rods of the Co-phase can act as a soft magnetic phase in the matrix of the Sm 2 Co 17 hard magnetic phase, forming two-phase magnets. Fe replacement in Sm-Co alloys provides a...

Fe-Ga alloys of appropriate Ga concentration and heat treatment show a very large enhancement in the tetragonal magnetostriction over that of pure α-Fe [λ100(Fe-Ga)∼15λ100(Fe)]. In order to gain further understanding of the extraordinary magnetoelastic characteristics of this system, the spin dynamics of two of these alloys, Fe1−xGax (x=0.160 and 0.225), were studied using inelastic neutron sca...
